Fall outfits 6-10

September 27, 2017

Getting some warm weather around here, but still trying my darnedest to get into the fall spirit!

I also finally got my hair done (some tiny little babylights to soften my root line), so hopefully my growing-out platinum phase will be a little less painful for you to watch.  🙂  As much as I’ve always loved messing with my hair, I’m wondering if it’s finally time to commit to a more sustainable look.  I’m inspired lately by Sabina Socol‘s cool natural-looking grown-out color, so maybe I’ll head in that direction.

I wore this to work with my chelsea boots, but switched out to sandals in the car before stopping off at Beverly Center to do a return.  I promise, it looked much more “together” with the boots!  I just wanted ultimate comfort for trekking around an unfamiliar mall.  I dropped off an Everlane return (my husband tried their denim, and while he liked the modern cut of the straight fit, he still found it too “boring”) with Happy Returns, which couldn’t have been easier.  All you need is your email address, and you just confirm your return details on an iPad!

This outfit was my “base layer” for showing off my new favorite sweater (review coming next week!).  It’s not quite cold enough to wear the sweater all the time yet, but I can’t wait til it is!  I’m getting a lot of wear out of light tanks like this while it’s still warm, even though it’s not “technically” in my capsule–I like to keep a couple white tees around at all times because I wear them constantly.  And the loafers are still enough to make me feel like I’m transitioning to fall.

Another hot day, but I kept it loose by unbuttoning this top a bit and going belt-less.  I wasn’t sure originally about pairing all these colors together, but looking at it here, the pink of the top is really toned down, so it’s not as wild as I thought it would be.  I love this dark berry lip color as a way of sneaking in some fall vibes while I can’t wear too many layers.

SOURCES // tank – Everlane, made responsibly // pants – Esby Apparel, made in Austin // shoes – Marais USA, made in LA (other colors)

You saw this outfit in my Esby Lucia pant review, but I’m including it here again because I loved it so much.  I think the blue of the shoes goes so well with this camel, and a little bit of a heel is super flattering with these pants.  A thin tee like this is perfect for tucking in with minimal bunching.  This is a date outfit of the moment for me.

One place I can get away with a sweater is in a cold movie theater, and I love that I’m so matchy with the Arclight Hollywood bathroom.  This outfit is a lot of color for me, but I actually really like the rosy pink and pine green together.  This sweater was a fairly impulsive purchase a couple winters back, but my love of pink doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon, so I’m glad I have it.  Oh, and the movie we saw was mother! and I do NOT recommend it.  Unless you really liked Antichrist–then you might be into it.  Beware of heavy-handed biblical allegory and graphic, disturbing violence.

Lo, I love all your wide-legged pants! I’ve committed myself to only buying used until the end of the year, which means sometimes it’s really tough finding trends that I really love. Love the weekly roundup, love your lipstick, and love your hair. 🙂

Thank you! And that’s a great commitment! I’m big on eBay, but I totally get that struggle. I have a few brands I scout pretty hard on there, but I usually have to wait til the next season or so to snag something “on-trend.”

Seriously you have the greatest pant collection. I’ve really done some thinking and my wardrobe lately and I’ve realized that while I’m in a place where I absolutely love everything, the one area that I feel needs a revamp is my pants collection. It’s just not very current. I think I just need some looser fits and straighter legs 😊

Aw thank you! I realized a few years ago that while I’m not super comfortable in dresses or skirts, I feel awesome in pants. So that sort of liberated me to purchase some real “statement pants.”

Thank you! I’m about to dive into an all-neutral 10×10, so it’ll be an interesting departure….
