Fall outfits 11-15

October 25, 2017

I’m playing catch-up now with some outfits that I wore before but didn’t get around to posting before the Fall 10×10.

OUTFIT 11

SOURCES // tee – Otherwild, made in USA // jeans – Levi’s, secondhand (similar, upcycled) // sandals – Birkenstock, eco-friendly // mini purse – Baggu, made in USA // bandana – Only Child, made in USA

My love affair with white jeans continues through all seasons, and while this feels pretty summer-y with the Birks, I love the grounding dash of rust from this bandana.  Only Child introduced it to raise money for the NAACP in response to the white supremacists in Charlottesville, and I so appreciate ethical makers who have a heart for social justice.  And the color is really beautiful in person.  My sister-in-law got me this shirt, and I was initially scared by the size small because I normally like more relaxed tees, but it’s actually nice to have a slimmer option sometimes.  #hipdips

OUTFIT 12

SOURCES // sweater – Madewell, old (similar, made responsibly) // pants – Elizabeth Suzann, made in Nashville (other colors/fabric) // loafers – Emerson Fry, made in USA (similar) // necklace – gifted (similar) // sunnies – Ray-Ban

My best friend gave her bridal party these gorgeous pressed plant necklaces for her wedding, and it was the sweetest gift.  I’m in love with mine, which has a tiny fern leaf and is the perfect minimal pendant I was looking for.  This outfit is a little less effortless than it may appear, due to itchy wool and a sweater that likes to pop out of its tuck, but I like the vibe.  I love a throw-on-and-go sweater, but I may have to start layering tees underneath for comfort.

OUTFIT 13

SOURCES // sweater – Everlane men’s, made responsibly (similar) // jeans – Levi’s (similar vintage) // shoes – Marais USA, made in LA (other colors) // lipstick in Zip – Glossier // mini purse – Baggu, made in USA

As much as I’m craving chillier temps, I’m counting my blessings that the weather is still warm enough to wear these shoes.  The shoes and the lipstick are the only thing making this outfit feel pulled together today, because it was just one of those mornings where eye makeup, hair styling, and a bra weren’t happening.  These shoes are also breaking in nicely, and don’t hurt nearly as much to wear anymore!

OUTFIT 14

SOURCES // jumpsuit – Reifhaus, made in Portland // sandals – Birkenstock, eco-friendly // mini purse – Baggu, made in USA // hat – Patagonia, eco-friendly (similar) // sunnies –Ray-Ban

My work threw a staff appreciation party at the horse races, and it was a scorcher!  I had never been to a horse race before, and was told you’re supposed to do it up in a sundress and big floppy hat, but considering I don’t really have that kind of thing, I decided to go for practical breezy linen and call it a day.  The crowd was dressed on a spectrum, so I didn’t feel out of place, and I was glad I was comfortable.  If you’re looking for the best wings at Santa Anita, check out the Korean stall and try “Mom’s Recipe”!  I loved the savory sesame glaze, and it had a great crunch.

OUTFIT 15

SOURCES // top – H&M Conscious, made from organic cotton (similar, made with sustainable Tencel) // jeans – Levi’s Waterless, made from USA denim with water-saving efforts // shoes – Marais USA, made in LA (other colors) // lipstick in Jam – Glossier // mini purse – Baggu, made in USA // jacket – Deadwood, made from deadstock leather

I got a bit gussied up for this special occasion and while we were waiting for an Uber, I tried to turn my husband into and Instagram husband for this shot.  😉  We were on our way to a rooftop bar to celebrate the engagement of one of my best friends from college.  He and his fiancé are two of the most wonderful people I know, and it couldn’t have been a better night.  (Even our Uber driver on the way home, an immigrant from South Africa, lifted our hearts with his love for and continuing hope in the US!)  I now have my TWO besties getting married off, and it’s so lovely to see them so happy.

Happy hump day!  If you’re in LA, hope you’re managing to stay cool!

Each outfit is great!! I have thought about getting men’s sweaters before, but when I borrow my boyfriend’s they don’t look right on me. How much did you size up to get a good slouchy-without-being-overwhelming fit?

Thanks, Alice! Honestly, the fit was sort of a happy accident. I got that sweater originally for my husband in a size Medium, and it shrunk a bit in the wash. He never wore it, and I kept stealing it, so it’s basically mine now!

I LOVE that top in your last look! It’s a bit surprising based off of what I know about your usual “look”, but you pull it off so well!
